Obituary for Norma Jean Yaquinta (Dearth)

East Liverpool city native Norma Jean Yaquinta, 80, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2011 with her family at her side at the Select Specialty Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Norma was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on October 22, 1930 and had lived there her entire life until recently when she moved to the home of her daughter and son-in-law on Sequoia Drive in Byesville.
A daughter of the late Ray A. and Kathryn Steffen Dearth, Norma was a 1948 graduate of East Liverpool High School and was a member of its Alumni Association. She was a member of the Boyce United Methodist Church. A homemaker, she also was a beautician and last worked as an activity assistant at the Nentwick Convalescent Center in East Liverpool. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden, loved watching her hummingbirds, and taking care of her loving family.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death on May 21, 2008 by her husband, John Yaquinta. They were married on October 10, 1966.
Surviving is her loving daughter, Nancy Shambaugh and her husband, Mark, of Byesville, as well as her adored grandson, Matthew Shambaugh of Dayton, Ohio.
One brother, Ray L. Dearth and his wife, Donna of Glenmoor, Ohio also survives along with several nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the family at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. as well as Saturday until the time of service.
Services will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with the Reverend Rick Dawson of the church and Edna Anderson, cousin of Norma, officiating.
Family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center immediately following the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
