Obituary for Jean C. Ogilvie (Cooper)

Mrs. Jean Cooper Ogilvie, 97, of East Liverpool, went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Calcutta Health Care Center following brief illness.

Born East Liverpool, March 12, 1915, a daughter of the late Lee C. and Alice Brookes Cooper, she lived all her life in this area. A devoted Christian and church member, she was a member and organist at the former Orchard Grove Methodist Church. She then became a member of the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church where she continued to play the organ for many years.

A graduate of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1933, she was a member of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association and attended its Olde Guard Luncheon. She was a member of the Monday Literary Club, Helen Gould Club, New Century Club and the East Liverpool Country Club.

Her husband, Donald M. Ogilvie, died September 5, 1987. The couple married September 22, 1943. Jean was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Vodrey and Ruth Boyce as well as two brothers, William B. Cooper and Joseph W. C. Cooper.

Survivors include a daughter, Jill Lawrence of East Liverpool and a son, Malcolm D. “Mac” Ogilvie, and his wife Linda, of Ft. Collins, Colorado. Also surviving is a sister, Anita McGraw of Summerville, South Carolina, and a sister-in-law, Mary E. Cooper of Chester.

In addition, Jean will be missed by her five grandchildren, Brad Lawrence, and his wife Hope, Kathryn Ogilvie Pollick, and her husband Aaron, Meredith Ogilvie, Alexander Ogilvie and Christopher Ogilvie, along with six great-grandchildren, Noah and Aubrey Lawrence, Madeleine, Charlotte, Aiden and Zachary Pollick. There are also many nieces and nephews surviving.

Friends may visit Thursday, April 26th, afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church. Rev. Dr. Mark Dunn will conduct a funeral service Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
