Obituary for Paul Braslawsce

EAST LIVERPOOL – Paul Braslawsce, of Calcutta, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014, at UPMC Montefiore Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 75.

Born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, February 1, 1939, he was a son of the late Zesha Teodore and Ethel Lefkowitz Braslawsce. In 1957, he graduated from the McKeesport High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He moved to the East Liverpool area where he owned and operated the longstanding retail store Paul Arrows Pants Shop for 55 years. He was a member of the Beth Shalom Congregation where he served in nearly every capacity.

He was a member of the Wellsville Free and Accepted Masons, Lodge 180, Ancient Accept Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville, a Shriner and the Order of the Eastern Star. He held life membership of Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge 258, B’Nai Brith, and the NAACP. As a member of the East Liverpool business community, he was a member for many years of the East Liverpool Area Chamber of Commerce.

He leaves his loving wife of 52 years Aleen Bregman Braslawsce. The couple married August 20, 1961. Together, they raised four sons: Benjamin Braslawsce, and his wife Heather, of Copley, Ohio, William Braslawsce of Beaver, Pennsylvania, Ian Braslawsce of Columbus, Ohio, and Erik Braslawsce, and his wife Emily, of Calcutta.

He will be fondly remembered by his 9 grandchildren: Jacob, Jonah, Samantha, Zeesha, Zane, Grace, Hannah, Phillip, and Sidney Braslawsce.

There are three sisters surviving: Betty Barlow, and her husband Alan, of Pittsburgh, Hilda Landis of Arizona, and Zelda Braslawsce of North Miami Beach, Florida, a brother Joseph Braslawsce, and his wife Ellen, of Arizona, and a sister-in-law, Carol Bregman of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, as well as numerous loving and devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Harry Barlow and a brother-in-law Charles Bregman.

Cantor Cheryl Klein, niece, will officiate a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Dawson Funeral Home. A Masonic Service will be conducted immediately prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at B’Nai Jacob Cemetery where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will conduct military honors.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
