Obituary for Ilene R. Echols (Williams)

EAST LIVERPOOL – Ilene R. Echols, of Lisbon Street, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Circle of Care in Salem following a lengthy illness. She was 75.

Born in Lickfork, West Virginia, March 17, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Emery O. and Blanche Pennington Williams. She moved to this area in 1950 and worked in the Dietary Department at the East Liverpool City Hospital.

A member of the Friendship Gospel Tabernacle, she was a member of the church board for many years and was a youth Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Echols, whom she married January 26, 1960. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael E. Cross, three sisters: Beatrice Propps, Loraine Jone and Loretta Renick, and four brothers: Virgil Williams, John L. Williams, Clarence Williams and James H. Williams.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald E. Echols, and his wife Sue, of Richmond, Virginia, and Terry F. Echols, and his companion Pat Roberts, of Wellsville, as well as five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit Monday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. Rev. Charles Taylor of the church will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Calcutta United Presbyterian Cemetery.
