Obituary for Dorothy L. Tucker (Atkins)

Dorothy L. Tucker passed away at her home on Campground Road in Wellsville at 4:05 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2014. She was 90.

Born in Wellsville on September 13, 1924, she was a daughter of the late John and Maude Cochran Atkins.

For over 44 years, Dorothy worked as a nurse’s aide at East Liverpool City Hospital and she was a lover of animals including her five cats and two dogs.

Preceding her in death on February 24, 2012 was her husband, Earl R. Tucker whom she married in 1944.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters and two sons: Patty Roberts, and her companion Terry Echols, of Wellsville; Susie Montgomery, with whom she resided; Bobby Tucker, also with whom she resided, and Donald Tucker and his wife, Mary, of Glenmoor, and a lifelong friend, Julie Tucker, of Wellsville.

There are two grandchildren, Lori Buckel, and her husband Tony, and Crissy Buckel, and her husband Shawn, as well as six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Frank Atkins, and his wife Marge, of California.

In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy is preceded by a son, Richard Tucker, and two brothers, Robert and Eugene Atkins.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Wednesday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Tom Adkins of Campground Community Church officiating. Burial will take place at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
