Tracy Calhoon Rickerd, lifetime East Liverpool resident and teacher, passed away suddenly Wednesday evening, October 29, 2014 at the Emergency Room at East Liverpool City Hospital. She was 45.

Born in East Liverpool, August 21, 1969, she was a daughter of Carol Lynn Calhoon and the late John E. Calhoon. Tracy was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1987. She continued her schooling at Kent State University where she earned her degree in education. A lifelong student, she later earned her Master’s Degree from Marygrove College and also enrolled in courses at Steubenville Franciscan University.

For many years, Tracy has been a teacher in the East Liverpool School System at North Elementary. She was passionate about education; she loved the children at the school and enjoyed having the opportunity to make a difference in young peoples’ lives.

Above all things in her life, she loved her family. She is survived by her husband, Michael W. Rickerd, whom she married June 29, 1990. She leaves her loving children, a daughter who is following in her mother’s footsteps and becoming a teacher, Kelsey Rickerd of East Liverpool, and a son John Rickerd, currently serving in the U.S. Navy, of East Liverpool. She will also be sadly missed by her sister, Angie DeGasperis, and her husband Donald, of Louisville, Ohio.

Friends may visit Sunday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 8 p.m. Rev. Darrick Kelley will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
