Obituary for Evelyn Joy Quarterman (Joy)

Evelyn “Marie” Joy Quarterman, of State Route 267, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 5:32 p.m. at Adkins Care Center following a lengthy illness.

Born July 9, 1939, in Wellsville, she was a daughter of the late Arnold Dale and Catherine E. Fowler Joy. A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker.

A lifetime member of the Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church, she served the church as a Deacon, a Sunday School and Bible School Teacher, and a member of the Lamp Lighters. A member of the Triangle Area Senior Citizens, she enjoyed Square Dancing, building puzzles, working puzzle books, playing cards, crocheting, and most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

On March 25, 1995, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Gene” Quarterman, whom she married June 8, 1958.

She leaves behind two daughters, Donna Bishop of East Liverpool, and Laurie Kittle and her husband, James of East Liverpool; and three sons, Harold E. Quarterman, Jr. and his wife, Deloris of East Liverpool, Ronald A. Quarterman and his wife, Moira of Jamesburg, NJ, and Michael L. Quarterman and his companion Crystal Davis of Wellsville, OH.

There are seven grandchildren, Myra Quarterman, Damian Quarterman, Russell Paugh, Megan Beagle Foster, Paige Stanley, Raemaleah Wooten, and MacKenzie Quarterman; eight step-grandchildren, Eric, Deric and Misty Kirbaugh, April Bell, James Kittle, Santana Garcia, Blaize and Selena Davis, as well as seven great-grandchildren, Ethan Reed, Gianna Kittle, RaiAnna Foster, Kendall Kittle, Preston Quarterman, Kali Reed and Makayla Farnsworth, and thirteen step-great grandchildren.

In addition, she is survived by one sister, Jewell Mason; and seven brothers, Dave, Jim, Ernie, Ray, Roger, Fred and Richard Joy.

She was also preceded by three brothers, Curt, Tom and Edgar Joy.

Friends may visit the family on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Pastor Bob Offerdahl and Pastor Dirk Hall will conduct a funeral service Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Immediately following the service family and friends will gather at the Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church.
