Obituary for Bonita M. Montgomery (Cook)

Bonita M. “Bonnie” Montgomery, of Wellsville, passed away Friday morning, November 14, 2014 at the East Liverpool City Hospital. She was 71.

Born in Wellsville, August 24, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Charles J. and Olive D. McIntosh Cook. She was a member of the Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church where for many years she taught Sunday school.

A lifetime Wellsville resident, she loved to bake and cook and enjoyed crocheting. She was a homemaker but enjoyed spending time with all the neighborhood children.

Her loving husband, William E. “Bill” Montgomery, survives at home. The couple married April 12, 1963. Also surviving is her daughter and best friend, Melissa M. “Lis” Montgomery of Wellsville, a sister Monya D. Kelly of Wellsville along with a niece and four nephews, Chadwick Kelly, Dirk Kelly, and his wife Peggy, Heather Ignaszewski, and her husband Jon, Christopher Kelly, and his wife Thelma, and Erik Kelly, and his wife Erica. She also will be sadly missed by eight great-nieces and great-nephews: Kimberly, Justin, Jaclyn, Kendra, Tyler, Hannah, Tylor and Shaleigh as well as two great-great nieces: Elise and Abigail.

For many years, Bonnie and Bill raised St. Bernards and she leaves behind her beloved Snow Bear.

Friends may visit Sunday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Pastor Bob Offerdahl and Pastor Dirk Hall will conduct a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church for fellowship.

The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses at East Liverpool City Hospital, Community Hospice, St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman and the many caring friends and family who helped in so many ways.
