Obituary for Mary Opal Thomas (Davis)

Mary Opal Thomas, formerly of West Sixth Street in East Liverpool, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the St. Mary’s Alzheimers Center in Columbiana, where she had resided recently. “Opal”, as she was affectionately known by her family and her many friends, was 90.

She was born in Mooretown, OH on April 19, 1924, a daughter of the late Roy and Olive Kimble Davis.

Opal was a self-employed poodle groomer in East Liverpool and in Poland, and worked in the Veterinarian office of Dr. Ward.

Surviving Opal is her daughter: Joy Ramsey, and her husband James, of East Liverpool. There are two grandsons: James Ramsey IV, and his wife Nikki, of East Liverpool, and Jason Ramsey, and his wife Kelly, of Wellsville. There are also seven great-grandchildren surviving.

Opal was preceded in death by a son Toby Thomas, seven sisters and two brothers.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday, where the family will be present from 1 to 2 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Friday, with Evangelist Will Montgomery of the St. Clair Ave. Church of Christ. Burial will take place at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
