Obituary for Sun Kum Sarge (Junop)

Sun Kum Sarge, 71, passed away suddenly at her home on Duke Road in East Liverpool on Thursday morning, January 15, 2015.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, on May 15, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Jun Kim Junop. Following her marriage, she came to the United States in 1971, and was a loving and devoted homemaker to her family here.

Two daughters and two sons survive: Angela and her husband, Richard “Chad” Vantilburg; Melissa Dawn Sarge; and Timothy Sarge and his wife, Amy, all of East Liverpool; and Soung Sarge and his companion, April Brown, of Hammondsville. Sun was also the proud grandmother of eleven; she also had a great-grandson and was expecting another soon.

Sun was preceded in death by two brothers, but was survived by sisters-in-law she was especially close with, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded by a grandson, Shannon, who passed away in 2013.

Friends may visit with the family from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Norm Eckert officiating.

Sun will be laid to rest at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
