Obituary for Florence Jacqueline Kimmel (VanDyke)

F. JACQUELINE “JACKIE” KIMMEL, 86

EAST LIVERPOOL – Former Meakin Street resident F. Jacqueline “Jackie” Kimmel, passed away at the East Liverpool City Hospital at 6:15 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 following a lengthy illness. Jackie, who was 86, had recently been in the care of Nentwick Convalescent Center.

A daughter of the late William and Margaret VanDyke, she was born in East Liverpool on February 14, 1928 and had spent her entire life here.

A member of Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius Church, Jackie had worked at several local potteries through the years, and had also been a nanny – caring for the children of many area families.

Preceding her in death on December 8, 1982 was her husband, S. Dale Kimmel, whom she married on October 2, 1970.

A daughter, Marsha McQuistion of Calvert City, Kentucky, and a son, David Hendricks survive her, along with four grandchildren: Don McQuistion, Jason Rogers, Michelle Tate and David Hendricks. There are several great-grandchildren.

A sister, Shirley Cline, also survives as well as a brother, William Shields. In addition to her husband and her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by a son, Robert Hendricks, and by a sister, Mary Helen Eastham, as well as her son-in-law William McQuistion.

Friends may visit the family at the Dawson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, with Father Peter Haladej of the church as the celebrant. Jackie will be buried at Riverview Cemetery.
