Obituary for Pius Jacob Anthony DiDonato

PIUS JACOB ANTHONY Di DONATO, 61

EAST PALESTINE – Pius Jacob Anthony Di Donato slipped into his eternal rest at 1:10 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2015 at the Cleveland Clinic. Pius resided at the Threshold Residential Home in East Palestine, where he was lovingly cared for throughout his illness.

Born in Ridgeway, PA on February 22, 1954, he was the son of the late Adamina (Terico) and John DiDonato, and had just turned 61 the day before his death. He came to this area in 1977 to live with his cousin, G. Jack DiDonato. Many years earlier, Pius’ family had helped to raise Jack, and the two had become more like brothers than cousins.

Pius was a loyal employee of the Sheltered Workshop for many years, and had belonged to St. Aloysius Catholic Church.

His cousin, Jack, survives him in Wellsville. Pius is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.

Father Peter Haladej of Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius Church will conduct a funeral service on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home for two hours prior to the 5:30 p.m. service, as well as following the service until 7 p.m.

Pius will be laid to rest at St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery in Ridgeway, PA.
