Obituary for Donald J. Chambers

Donald J. “Jeff” Chambers, of East Liverpool, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015 at UPMC in Pittsburgh. He was 66.

Born in East Liverpool, July 1, 1948, he was a son of the late Donald H. and Elizabeth McGonigal Chambers. A self-employed truck driver, he had also driven for the Yellow Freight Co. at one time. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and the TDU. In retirement he had owned the Glasgow Carryout.

Don was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the US Army, 1st Calvary Division on the Cambodian border. A member of Trinity Presbyterian Church at one time, he also was proud of his past memberships in VFW Post 5647, American Legion Post 736, DAV Post 47 John W. Covert, and his current membership in the 7th Cavalry Association.

A 1966 graduate of East Liverpool High School, he had attended Kent State University and as a young man was a very competitive amateur tournament bowler.

“Jeff” is survived by his wife, Janet Everhart Chambers, whom he married on July 28, 1973, two step-sons, David A. Conley, of Wellsville and Kevin P. Conley, and his wife Barbara, of East Palestine. There is also one step-grandson, Paul Michael Conley of Cleveland.

He is survived by his two sisters, Suzanne Crawford, of W. Salem, and Lisa Chambers of Berea, and one brother, Thomas Chambers, of Dallas.

Friends may visit on Sunday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 1 to 4 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Monday with Evangelist Will Montgomery of the St. Clair Ave. Church of Christ.

Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park cemetery where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will provide full military honors.
