Obituary for Michael Patrick Welsh

Michael P. “Mike” Welsh, of State Route 154 in Elkton, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2016 at Salem Community Hospital, where he was taken after becoming ill at his home. He was 45.

A son of Margie Jean Derenburger Crowl and her husband, Harry, of East Palestine and Paul Welsh of Lisbon, Mike was born in East Liverpool on February 15, 1970. He spent his lifetime in this area and was a 1989 graduate of Beaver Local High School. It was there he met his wife, Donna, whom he later married; they raised their family here and enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding four-wheelers together. Donna survives him at home.

In addition to his wife and his parents, Mike is also survived by a son, Jacob M. Welsh, at home, and a grandson, Landon Welsh. Mike was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Adam Welsh, who passed away on December 12, 2011.

Mike also leaves behind a sister, Lisa Myers of New Waterford, and a brother, Kevin Welsh and his wife, Shannon, of Negley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and special friends.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Minister Jason Pancake of Hanoverton Christian Church will conduct services at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Friday.

Burial will take place at Columbiana County Memorial Park, followed by a continued time of fellowship at the Dawson Family Center.

Those wishing to do so, in lieu of flowers, may make monetary donations to assist the needs of the family.
