Obituary for Allan Richard Feldman

Allan Richard “Rich” Feldman, 73

East Liverpool – A. Richard Feldman, CLU, ChFC, MBA of East Liverpool, passed away February 13, 2016 surrounded by his family in the privacy of his home. “Rich,” as he was known to his family and friends was 73.

Born April 21, 1942, in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ben and Freda (Fritzie) Feldman.
Following graduation from East Liverpool High School (1960) and Youngstown State University, he received his Master of Business Administration in Banking and Finance from Case Western Reserve University.
For over 50 years, Rich worked as an agent for the New York Life Insurance Company and was a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT). Continuing the tradition of meeting clients’ needs, his daughter Wendy Feldman will operate The Feldman Agency in East Liverpool, OH.

Rich’s dad, Ben, used to call him the “Walking Hobby” because he was involved with so many activities.
He was an avid Amateur Radio Operator, K8HGY, for over 60 years and was an active long time member of the Triangle Amateur Radio Club (TARC) in East Liverpool, a member of the American Radio Relay League, and as AFA1MH, was involved in the Military Auxiliary Radio System (M.A.R.S.) for over 50 years. The network connects interactions of Military aircraft with other Military and civilians. He was especially involved during the Gulf War providing Ham Radio phone patches to connect the families of our service members with their sons, daughters and loved ones.

Rich enjoyed drag racing for over 50 years with his car “Mr. Security” and in 1986 won the National Championship for Super Stock ‘O’. He was a member of the National and International Hot Rod Associations.
He was a member and president of the Beth Shalom Congregation, a member of the B’nai B’rith, served as Board Member for the local American Red Cross and the Columbiana County Mental Health Boards. He was an officer with the Liverpool Township Police Department, participated as a member of the Defense Orientation Conference Association (DOCA), which is a nonprofit education organization, and was an enthusiastic photographer.

Rich was always willing to go out of his way to help others or work on a project any time of the day or night. We will lovingly remember him with a camera around his neck and a radio on his hip.

Rich is survived by Harriette, his wife of 44 years, his brother Marvin Feldman (Vicki), daughters Wendy Feldman-Kerr (Eric), Lori Goodman (Jared), Melissa Feldman, granddaughter Sydney Kerr, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will welcome friends at the Dawson Funeral Home at 12 noon on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, followed by a Memorial Service conducted by Rabbi Amy Greenbaum of Pittsburgh, at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. After the service we will gather at the Dawson Family Center.
