JAMES “JIM” LAWTON, 86

EAST LIVERPOOL – Kingsridge Drive resident James “Jim” Lawton passed away at his home following a lingering illness.

He was born in East Liverpool on March 15, 1930, a son of the late Alfred and Sarah Bourne Lawton.

A carpenter by trade, he had worked for Ron Tice Construction for many years, and had previously been affiliated with the Youngstown Union Hall. He belonged to the Carpenters Local #171.

Jim was a lifetime member of the Columbiana County Fish & Game Club, and also belonged to the American Trap Shooting Association. He enjoyed dancing, and was a part of the Happy Squares Dancing Club for many years.

Preceding him in death in January 1984 was his wife, Barbara Lawton.

He was also preceded by his sisters, Daisy Lawton and Nora Carey.

There are two stepdaughters, Alice Leanna Ream, and Charlene Donahoo, as well as a stepson, Chuck Adams.

Evangelist Will Montgomery of the St. Clair Avenue Church of Christ will preside at a graveside service at Riverview Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. today, Monday, April 25, 2016.

The Dawson Funeral Home is in charge of Mr. Lawton’s arrangements.
