Obituary for David Fredrick Laneve

David F. Laneve, 81, passed away at 11:26 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at East Liverpool City Hospital, following a lingering illness. He had lived in East Liverpool for most of his life.

He was born at home in Newell, a son of the late Carmen James and Alice Rose McElroy Laneve, on May 3, 1934.

David attended St. Aloysius School, and was graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1954. He served with the U.S. Army in Germany from 1957 to 1959.

For over 27 years, he worked at the former Crucible Steel, where he had been a supervisor for five of those years.

A member of Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius Church, he was also a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge #315 in East Liverpool, and belonged to the Penova Radio Club at one time.

His wife, Betty Louise Laneve, whom he married April 1, 1974, passed away on December 4, 1997.

Surviving are three daughters and two sons: Marianne Wells and her husband, Ron, with whom he resided; Nancy Virden and her husband, Jim, of East Liverpool; Susan Kupelian and her husband, Rick, of Goodlettesville, TN; Donald Quinn and his wife, Debbie, of East Liverpool; and Dennis Quinn, also of East Liverpool. David was blessed with 15 grandchildren (including Nicole Adkins, whom he helped raise), 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; he will be especially missed by “Whatever”, “Old Man”, “Daniel No”, “T.J.”, “Hurricane Emily” and “Cheerleader”. A grandson, Eric Quinn, preceded him in death.

There are two sisters, Alice Elaine Lindesmith of Salineville, and Virginia Lindesmith of Akron, along with a brother, Paul Laneve, and numerous nieces and nephews. Four other brothers, Sam Laneve, Vincent Laneve, Lawrence Laneve, and an infant brother Carmen, preceded him in death.

Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home. A Masonic service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
