Obituary for James A Brown Sr.

James A. Brown, Sr., 79

East Liverpool – James A. Brown, Sr., of Summerset Road in East Liverpool, passed away at his home with his family by his side at 4:50 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2016, he was 79 years old.

Born in East Liverpool on January 26, 1937, he was a son of the late Melvin and Bessie Cramer Brown.

He had been employed at the Stevenson Co. in Wellsville, as well as the former Patterson Foundry, prior to his 22 year career with the Columbia Gas Company as a backhoe operator.

A veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam War, Jim was a member of the VFW Post #66.

He also was a member of the East Liverpool Lodge #315 Free and Accepted Masons, 32nd degree member of The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville. Jim was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed hunting.

On June 18, 1962, he married his wife, the former Ruth Triplett, who survives him at home.

Jim is survived by his three daughters: Jamie Lancaster, and her husband Ronald, of Colliers, WV, Tammy Frank, of Wellsville, and Sharon Smith, and her husband Mike, of Uniontown, OH, as well as his son: James A. Brown, Jr. and his wife Lori, of Meadville, PA. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He also leaves behind a sister, Linda Davis, of East Liverpool, as well as a brother, Donald Brown, Sr. of Wellsville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: Leroy, William and Melvin Brown.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The Masonic Lodge will conduct a service at 7 p.m. Thursday evening.

Evangelist Will Montgomery of the St. Clair Avenue Church of Christ will conduct services to be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Jim will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will provide full military honors.
