Obituary for Charles Glenn Gilkinson

CHARLES GLENN GILKINSON, 87

EAST LIVERPOOL – East Liverpool Road resident Charles Glenn Gilkinson passed away at 11:08 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Vista Center in Lisbon. He was 87.

“Glenn”, as he was widely known, was born on September 29, 1928 in East Liverpool, a son of the late Charles and Irene Murray Gilkinson.

Following high school, he served with his brother Keith in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean War.

For many years, he owned and operated Kayco Trucking, and had driven for Pusateri Excavating at one time. He was a member of the Allegheny Weslyan Methodist Church in Hookstown, PA.

His first wife, Kathryan Hines Gilkinson, preceded him in death. He is survived by his second wife, Kathryn E. Gilkinson, whom he married on December 10, 1983.

Glenn was also preceded by one son, Rodney Gilkinson. He is survived by two grandchildren, Dreama Rambo and her husband, John, and Rodney Gilkinson, along with three great-grandchildren, Jessica, Katilyn and John Rambo. There is a brother, David Gilkinson and his wife, Sharon, of East Liverpool, a step-daughter, Sharon Stommel of Newark, CA, and a step-son, Ed Stults of Sperry, OK.

Also preceding him in death was a sister, Karen Siders, and three brothers: Kendall Gilkinson, Keith Gilkinson and Doyle Gilkinson, and a step-daughter Libby Ledesma.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will take place at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, with Pastor Paul Treese officiating.

Glenn will be buried at Columbiana County Memorial Park, where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will provide full military honors. Following the burial, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a continued time of fellowship
