Obituary for Donovan James Henderson

ROGERS, OHIO – Donovan James Henderson, of Sprucevale Road, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016, at the Salem Community Hospital. He was 77.

Born in East Liverpool, November 6, 1938, he was a son of the late Ashley Pete Henderson and Norma Nesbeth Henderson. He leaves behind a brother, Joseph Henderson of Salem.

He worked at Col Pump in Columbiana at one time but his life work was on the family farm where he resided for many years. He attended the Union Ridge Bible Baptist Church and was a member of the Moose Lodge 467 in East Palestine and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in New Waterford.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn J. “Toots” Henderson, as well as a son, Clark J. Henderson, and two grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Daniel J. Henderson and his wife, Dawn, of Xenia, Ohio, along with two daughters, Norma Floyd and her husband, Mike, of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Katherine Flowers of Rogers, a daughter-in-law Helen Henderson of East Liverpool. Also surviving is his companion, Virginia “Jenny” Artrip and 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit Tuesday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Rev. Randy Clark will conduct a funeral service Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
