Obituary for Ronald Dean Jackman

Ronald Dean “Ron” Jackman, of Cannons Mills Road, East Liverpool, died at the Hospice House in Poland at 4:08 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016. He was 82.

A son of the late Robert and Pauline Chaffee Jackman, he was born in East Liverpool on March 19, 1934. He was a 1953 graduate of East Liverpool High School. A Korean War veteran, he served with the U.S. Navy at that time.

Ron was retired from the Stevenson Company in Wellsville, where he had been a machinist. Until this past December, he had also been a carrier for The Review newspaper.

A longtime member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Rogers, he loved to sing and play the ukulele. He had also published a book of poems with his sister.

His wife, Gerry Lonkert Jackman, survives at home. They were married in September, 1966.

There is one daughter, Deana Jackman, of East Liverpool, along with three sons: Jon Jackman and his wife, Kim, of Negley; and Luke Jackman and James Dean Jackman, both of East Liverpool. Ron also leaves behind six grandchildren: Jherica Jackman, Jon Eric Jackman, Jordin Jackman, Eva Jackman, Luke Jackman and Chance Mason Jackman, along with three great-grandchildren: Briella Drennen, Amelia Jackman and Lily Floyd.

Additional survivors include a sister, Nancy Kelly Boyd and her husband, Pastor Ronald Boyd, of East Liverpool, and a brother, Robert Jackman and his wife, Margaret, of Wellsville.

Friends may visit with the family at the Dawson Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Tuesday.

Pastor Ronald Boyd and other family members will conduct a service to be held at the funeral home at noon on Tuesday. Following the service, the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will provide military honors.

Burial will take place at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
