Obituary for Alice Diddle (Watkins)

ALICE WATKINS DIDDLE, 87

LISBON – Alice Watkins Diddle, formerly of Annesley Road in East Liverpool, passed away peacefully into Heaven early Sunday morning, July 31, 2016 at Vista Center in Lisbon. She was 87.

Born in East Liverpool on September 26, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Jess and Edith Fulmer Watkins. Alice had attended East Liverpool schools.

Alice, an active member of the First Free Methodist Church, was a past president of its Silver Chords senior citizens group, as well as secretary of the Women’s Missions. She was a very dedicated 20 year member of the Kinoka Council of Campfire Girls, where she was a tireless volunteer.

Alice, along with her husband “Ted”, was very involved in the initial years of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association’s telephone solicitations, mailings and early all-class reunions.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas E. “Ted” Diddle whom she married on November 2, 1951.

Alice is also survived by her three daughters, Debra Sines and her husband, John, of Calcutta; Vickie Jordan and her husband, Leonard, of Wellsville; and Cheryl Coalmer of Negley; as well as two sons, Daniel Diddle and his wife, Brenda, of Calcutta; and Michael Diddle and his wife, Kathy, of Wellsville.

There are 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren surviving, as well a step-sister Georgina Emler of East Liverpool.

In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death two brothers, Harvey Watkins and Howard Watkins, a step-brother James Anderson, and a step-sister, Betty Anderson.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Services will take place at the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, with Rev. David Peterson officiating. Family and friends will then gather at the First Free Methodist Church for a time of fellowship.

Burial will take place in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
