Emma Marlene Canton, 73

EAST LIVERPOOL – Emma Marlene Canton, of East Liverpool, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the Hospice House in Poland. She was 73.

Born I Barnhill, Ohio, August 5, 1943, she was a daughter of the late William P. and Hazel Feister Hunter. Emma lived most of her life in this area where she was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1961. She was a member and tireless volunteer of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association and in 1994, along with her late husband Jim, was recognized with the Alumni Merit Award, exemplifying the spirit and enthusiasm of the organization. For 38 years Emma worked as a nurse’s aide at the East Liverpool City Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Canton. They married on June 12, 1972 and did everything together. She was also preceded in death by a step-daughter, Marlene Canton.

A son survives, Daniel P. Canton and his companion, Jennifer, of Austintown, as well as two grandchildren, Steven James Canton and Shade Rose Canton. There are three sisters, Shirley Byers of Midvale, Ohio, Carolyn Modany of Midland, Pennsylvania, and Alice Henson of Norman, Oklahoma.

Private funeral arrangements have been completed by the Dawson Funeral Home.
