Grace Smith Hoffman, 90

EAST LIVERPOOL – Grace Smith Hoffman passed away peacefully into her eternal rest at her home on Ninth Avenue, LaCroft, Thursday morning, September 22, 2016. She was 90.

Born in Chester, West Virginia, May 4, 1926, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary Eichler Smith.

A resident of this area all her life, she was a member of the Chester High School Class of 1944. A member of the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church, she was also active in the East Liverpool Assembly 71 Social Order of the Beauceant and the Crystal Chapter 18 of the Order of the Eastern Star where she held nearly every office at one time. She was also a past president of the Masonic Temple Company.

Her husband, Ralph “Pete” Hoffman, preceded her in death on June 25, 1993.

Two daughters survive: Mary Lou King and Carolyn Sue Hoffman and her companion, Winston Coburn, all of East Liverpool.

There are two grandchildren, Andrea Hoffman and Erin Paletta and her husband, Tony as well as two great-grandsons, Andrew and Jacob Paletta.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Grace was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Wingett, Hazel Snyder, Mary Green and Sue Watson; a brother, Edwin Smith; a half-sister, Pauline Ward and a son-in-law Robert King.

Friends may visit Saturday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 8 p.m. Rev. Dr. Vel Vais of the church will conduct a funeral service Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Beauceant service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday.

A private burial will take place at the Hoffman Memorial Gardens.
