LEONARD ‘HALE’ JORDAN, SR., 87

EAST LIVERPOOL – Leonard “Hale” Jordan, Sr., 87, passed away peacefully at his home early Sunday morning, November 27, 2016.

Born at home in Replete, WV on September 22, 1929, he was a son of the late Ora and Myrtle (Fisher) Jordan.

Hale had been employed with the West Virginia State Road Commission, where he operated many forms of road equipment and was Supervisor for Webster County (WV) until 1969. At that time, he moved his family to East Liverpool, where he worked as a truck driver, hauling steel until his retirement from Teamsters Local #92 in September 1989. He had last worked for Weir Cove Trucking in Weirton.

A Protestant by faith, he was a 50-year member of the Masonic Addison Lodge #116 AF&AM in Webster Springs, WV. An avid outdoorsman, he was an excellent hunter.

Surviving him at home is his devoted wife, Charlotte Handschumacher Jordan, whom he married on August 14, 1978. There are three children: Betty Crabtree of Rogers; Leonard Hale Jordan, Jr. and his wife, Vickie, of East Liverpool; and Retired Army Sgt. First Class Michael Jordan and his wife, Jayne, of Oregon, IL.

Seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive, as well as sisters Nina Springer of Elyria, OH, Wilda Roby of Lorain, OH, Maxine Watkins, also of Elyria, Madeline Hunt of Mari Ana, FL, and Sue Carpenter, also of Lorain, along with brothers, Edwin “Ray” Jordan of Hookstown, and Ora “Leon” Jordan of Salem. Another brother, Jesse Ransom Jordan, preceded him in death.

Friends may visit with the family at the Dawson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Roger Roby, Hale’s nephew, will officiate at services to be held at the funeral home Thursday at 1:30. Immediately following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a meal and a continued time of fellowship and remembrance. Burial will take place at Calcutta Cemetery.
