Obituary for Viola Edna Densmore (Silverthorn)

EAST LIVERPOOL – E. Viola Densmore, of East Liverpool, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the Calcutta Health Care Center following a lengthy illness. She was 88.

Born in Chester, January 2, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Clifford A. “Bill” and Edna Mader Silverthorn. A resident of this area most of her life, she was a member of the LaCroft Church of the Nazarene where, along with her husband, she was active with the Akron District Work and Witness program building churches worldwide. The couple also owned and operated the former Book and Bible store from 1980 to 1985.

On July 10, 2008, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reid Ormand Densmore, Sr. They were married July 24, 1951. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Keirns and Louise Blaschak, four brothers, Joe, Bob, Clifford and Clyde Silverthorn, as well as her step-mother, Hazel Allen Silverthorn.

She is survived by two daughters, Denise Duck of Wellsville and Melissa Rich and her husband, Dan, of Florissant, Missouri, and two sons, Thomas Densmore and his wife, Jeanne, of Kissimmee, Florida, and Reid “Denny” Densmore, Jr. of Minerva.

Also left to cherish her memory are 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Donna Jean Renner of East Liverpool.

Rev. David Peterson will conduct a funeral service Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.

She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Locust Hill Cemetery in Chester.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
