VICKY L. CRUZ, 60

MOON TWP – Vicky L. (Pugh) Cruz, born and raised in East Liverpool, passed away at Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh on Tuesday afternoon, January 24, 2017 at the age of 60. She had been battling cancer for several years and died in the presence of her loving and supportive family.

A daughter of the late Eugene and Myrtle Claribel Barnhart Pugh, she was born April 12, 1956. Vicky was a 1974 graduate of East Liverpool High School and had spent much of her life in this area. She had spent a few years in California and Florida before moving to Moon Township, PA.

Most recently, she had been a grievance coordinator and analyst for Aetna Insurance Company in Moon. Vicky loved traveling with her husband to the beach or anywhere there was water… but her greatest joy was spending time with her only granddaughter, Madison.

Surviving her at home is her husband, Jose Cruz, whom she married on July 22, 2006.

She also leaves behind a daughter, Jami Dugan and her husband, Kenneth, of Pittsburgh, and a son, Shawn Lonkert and his wife, Kristina, of East Palestine, as well as her “baby girl”, Madison.

Vicky came from a large and loving family, including sisters Bernice Tishman of California, Joyce Hull of Calcutta, Sheryl Diamond of Calcutta, Linda Fry and her husband, Rick, of East Liverpool, Janet Fumara of Columbus, and Peggy Olmstead of Lakeland, FL; brothers Eugene Pugh, Ronald Pugh, and Jack Pugh, all of East Liverpool; Tom Pugh and his wife, Debbie, of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Gloria Pugh, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Gloria Cruz, of Puerto Rico, a sister-in-law, Jayra, and a brother-in-law, Daniel.

In addition to her parents, Vicky was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Diego Centeno, along with her maternal grandparents Bernice and John Barnhart, and her paternal grandparents, Ernest and Ethel Pugh.

Burial will take place at Columbiana County Memorial Park at a later date.

The Dawson Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
