Obituary for Lenore R. Barnes (Campbell)

Lenore R. Barnes, 87

CHESTER – Lenore R. Barnes, of East Liverpool, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Stone Pear Pavilion following a lengthy illness. She was 87.

Born in East Liverpool, December 20, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Ollie and Mary McIntosh Campbell. A resident of this area all her life, she was graduated from East Liverpool High School and furthered her education at the East Liverpool City Hospital Nursing School. She began her career as a registered nurse at East Liverpool City Hospital and later served as the head nurse at the former East Liverpool Extended Care Center for many years.

A member of the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church, she later became a member of Grace Bible Ministries where she enjoyed the Bible study class. She also loved to play card games and painting.

Above all things in life, Lenore loved her family and enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Barnes, on November 10, 1998. There are three sons, Jerry Barnes and his wife, Janet, Donald Barnes and his wife, Kathy, and Kent Barnes and his wife, Diane, all of East Liverpool. Seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a twin sister, Eleanor Herron, and three brothers, Charles, Ronald and Paul Campbell.

Friends may visit Sunday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Pastor Tom Schneidmiller will conduct a funeral service Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.

The family wishes to acknowledge all of Lenore’s caregivers and those who brought her comfort and peace including the Fox Nursing Home staff, East Liverpool City Hospital, the Dialysis Clinic, Pastor Tom Schneidmiller and Valley Hospice.
