Obituary for Donald L Hildebrand

Donald L. Hildebrand, 73

EAST LIVERPOOL – Donald L. “Hildy” Hildebrand, of East Liverpool, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the East Liverpool City Hospital. He was 73.

Born in East Liverpool, December 4, 1943, he was a son of the late James E. “Ed” and Thelma Mosser Hildebrand. A resident of this area all his life, for 20 years he worked at the former Crucible Steel Company.

A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1961, he was a member of the track and cross country teams and the basketball team. He qualified for state competition in cross country.

He was a member of the Orioles Nest 169, Moose Lodge 122, Polish Falcons Nest, Elks Lodge 258 and the VFW Post 66. For 17 years he was the president of the Potters Club. Along with his twin brother, Ron, he coached youth baseball in the area for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife and companion of 28 years, Dawna McCune at home. He is also survived by three sons, Craig Hildebrand and his wife, Kelley, of Denver, Colorado, Dennis Hildebrand and his fiancée, Sarah, of East Liverpool and Donald McKenzie of East Liverpool. There are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A sister survives as well, Beverly Sue Moore of Wellsville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother Ronald L. Hildebrand, along with brothers Thomas A. “Tom” Hildebrand and William E. “Hootie” Hildebrand.

Friends may visit Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Pastor Dirk Hall will conduct a funeral service Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Calcutta Cemetery.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Living Well Church, 1620 Maple Avenue, Wellsville.
