Giuseppina “Josephine” Nicastro, 92

NORTH OLMSTED – , Giuseppina “Josephine” Bernardo Nicastro, 92, formerly of East Liverpool, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at her residence in North Olmsted.

Born in Cosenza, Italy, on March 20, 1924, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary Antonia Ferlaino Bernardo. She came to the United States in 1953 and lived in East Liverpool until 1987 when she moved to North Olmsted to be closer to her family.

While in East Liverpool “Josephine” attended the former St. Ann’s Catholic Church, as well as the Holy Trinity Parish of St. Aloysius Church. She was a seamstress at the former Metz’s Women’s Fashions prior to working at Hall China for 33 years as a trimmer and handler.

Always a diligent worker, “Josephine” loved being a mother first, and was always involved in every family project, whether it involved baking bread, making noodles, knitting or gardening.

She is survived by her two daughters, Eleanor Nicastro Taips, and her husband Terence, of North Olmsted, and Wanda Nicastro Trebules, and her husband Victor, of Rockville, Maryland. There are three grandchildren, Terri Jo Trebules Parris, and her husband Keith, Victor Trebules, III, and his wife Jodi, and Kathryn Taips, as well as her great-grandchildren, Tristan, Jonas and Mara Trebules, and Kara Parris.

Also surviving is a brother, Mario Bernardo, and his wife Margaret, of Texas.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Father Peter Haladej of Holy Trinity Parish of St. Aloysius Church will conduct a funeral service Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
