A lifetime resident of East Liverpool, she was born here on February 5, 1933, a daughter of the late Edwin W. and Edna B. Wright Hager. She had attended East Liverpool Schools and was married on January 20, 1949 to her husband, Willis “Hilly” Slagle.

Harriet and Hilly were the proud parents of three daughters, and Harriet was a loyal and loving mom and homemaker. In her later years, she volunteered at the gift shop at East Liverpool City Hospital, and had also worked in the housekeeping department.

Hilly preceded her in death on December 28, 2005.

A member of the 30 + 30 Seniors and Area Senior Citizens, Harriet and her family faithfully attended Boyce Methodist Church, especially before her illness. A competitive Bingo player, she also enjoyed traveling to the casinos in Las Vegas, and playing cards with friends and family.

Harriet leaves behind her “girls”: Cassy Stephens and her husband, John, of Calcutta; Pamela Fouse and her husband, Donald, of Negley; and Tonnie Slagle, of Calcutta. There are three grandchildren: John Stephens of Calcutta; Donny Fouse and his wife, Tracey, of Canfield; and Derrick Fouse and his wife, Kira, also of Canfield. Six great-grandchildren survive as well: Chase, Gracie, Alana, Luke, Kailyn and Tyler.

Additional survivors include a sister, Barb Stacey, as well as four brothers: Joseph Hager, James Hager, David Hager, and Ed Hager, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Harriet was preceded by one brother, Clark Hager, and six sisters, Betty Lou Hager, Dorothy LeeMasters, Ella Mae Carter, Katie James, Hazel Adkins and Edna Hebron.
