JEWEL MARIE NEILSON, 91

COLUMBIANA – Jewel Marie Neilson, born at home in Chester on November 27, 1925, passed away late Sunday evening, May 7, 2017 at Parkside Health Care Center in Columbiana. Jewel, who had resided on East Liverpool Road in East Liverpool for many years, was 91.

A daughter of the late Oscar L. and June Bolin Heddy, she was a 1943 graduate of East Liverpool High School.

A potter by trade, she had worked at Homer Laughlin China, retiring after 22 years.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Thomas J. Neilson, who died on November 27, 1994.

There is one son, Monte Cook, of Palmyra, PA, along with two stepdaughters, Darlene Niezgoda and her husband, Joseph, of Santee, CA, and Donna Scheffler of El Cajon, CA, and a stepson, Michael Neilson of East Liverpool.

Two grandsons also survive, Dillon Cook and Harley Cook, as well as a great-grandson, Dylan. In addition, there are two step-grandchildren, Michele Ross and Joseph Niezgoda, and great-grandsons, Ethan and Brayden Ross, and Nick and Jack Niezgoda.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Jewel was preceded in death by a son, Kurt Cook.

Jewel will be buried at Columbiana County Memorial Park. The Dawson Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements, which have been completed.
