Obituary for Theresa Madonna Curran (Jasenec)

THERESA “TERRY” JASENEC CURRAN, 57

CARROLLTON, VA – On Wednesday morning, May 10, 2017, Theresa “Terry” Jasenec Curran closed her eyes and put to rest her longtime battle with cancer, at the age of 57. She passed away in the presence of the love of her life and best friend – her husband, Andy – in the home they shared in Carrollton, Virginia.

Terry was a fierce and brave warrior against cancer for many years, and even throughout her illness, she focused on awareness and helping others with their own battles. Her friends and family will forever remember her positive outlook, her radiant smile, her enthusiasm for life, and her sweet spirit – even in the midst of overwhelming odds.

A daughter of the late Joseph and Martha McIntosh Jasenec, Terry was born in East Liverpool on June 1, 1959. She was a 1977 graduate of East Liverpool High School and moved from this area in the mid-1980’s.

She was a teller at Old Point National Bank in Carrollton (VA) and most recently been working in sales for “It Works Global”, specializing in health, beauty and natural supplements.

Terry and Andy, who were “high school sweethearts”, were married on April 4, 2009. He survives her at home.

She also leaves behind a stepson, Andrew Leslie Curran IV (Melanie Janik), of Newport News, VA, as well as a grandson, Andrew Curran V and another grandchild due in November. A brother, David McKnight and his wife, Natasha, also survive in Deltona, FL, as well as her dear aunt, Shirley Jasenec, and her husband’s family who were all very special to her. Terry had a way of making friends wherever she went – not the least of which her “fur babies, Lailah, Brutus, Bella and Ariel – and will be missed immeasurably by all those whose lives she touched.

Terry was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Stefanovsky Mulligan, a brother, Shawn Haney, a niece, Paige Haney, and other loved ones, including her paternal grandmother, Anna Jasenec, who helped raise Terry.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Dawson Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Pastor Norm Eckert of Beechwood Free Methodist Church will officiate at a service to be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Terry will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery. Following the burial, family and friends will return to the Dawson Family Center for a continued time of fellowship and lunch.

Terry’s family wishes to express their appreciation to special friends Nancy Begor and Susan Jones for “always being there”, and to Dr. Yousef and his staff at the Riverside Cancer Center for their compassion and care of Terry. A heartfelt thanks also goes out to the Claytor-Rollins Funeral Home in Poquoson (VA) as well as the Dawson Funeral Home.
