Obituary for James Michael Bowersock

JAMES MICHAEL “JIMMY” BOWERSOCK, 30

EAST LIVERPOOL – Early Thursday morning, July 27, 2017, James Michael “Jimmy” Bowersock passed away at East Liverpool City Hospital at the age of 30.

A beloved son of James and Karen Piatt Bowersock of Rogers, Jimmy was born in Salem, Ohio on February 21, 1987. He was a 2006 graduate of Beaver Local High School, where he had excelled in athletics, especially football and wrestling. Jimmy was also a member of the football team at West Virginia Wesleyan College, and had attended Youngstown State University as well.

In recent years, he had worked alongside his father at their family business, West Point Masonry, where he was a Union operator with Local #66. When he wasn’t busy working, he enjoyed fishing, riding his Gator around the farm, and being surrounded by his family and his many, many friends.

Jimmy was a lifelong member of Long’s Run Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his parents, he leaves behind three sisters: Bobbie Jo Bowersock; Danielle Suiter and her husband, Dave; and Leigh Ann Bowersock, all of Rogers, as well as his maternal grandmother, Helen Piatt of Wellsville. Jimmy will also be greatly missed by his girlfriend, Jody Yaples of Austintown, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins… and last but not least, his canine couch buddy, Dexter.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Thomas Piatt, and by his paternal grandparents, Clarence “Bill” and Gladys Bowersock.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Dawson Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m.

Rev. Dr. Stephen Cramer of Longs Run Presbyterian Church will officiate at a service to be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Monday. Jimmy will be laid to rest at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Following the burial, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a continued time of fellowship and lunch.
