Obituary for Nancy J Wilson (Groves)

Nancy J. Groves Wilson, 79, of Dairy Lane, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 19, 2017 at her, home surrounded by her family.

Born in Chester, West Virginia on July 31, 1938, she was a daughter of Leonard A. Groves of Calcutta, and the late Etta Stuchell Groves. Nancy was also preceded by her mother, Betty P. Groves.

Nancy was a 1956 graduate of Chester High School. She had worked as a health care aide at Royalty Home Health Care, which later became Ohio Valley Home Health. Previously, she had worked at the former East Liverpool Motor Lodge.

She was preceded in death on February 19, 1999 by her husband, John J. Wilson.

Nancy always put everyone else first and her family meant everything to her. In addition to her father, she leaves behind her three children: Julie Harazin and her husband, Martin, of East Liverpool; Janet Cranston and her husband, Ed, of Calcutta; and Steve Wilson and his wife, Judy, of Wellsville.

There are six grandchildren: Lori Wright, Christopher Cochran, Eric Cranston, Heidi Wilson, Brandon Wilson, and Hayden Wilson, as well as five great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is a brother, Leonard “Buck” Groves and his wife, Vera, of Chester, along with a sister, Peg Laughlin of Hookstown, PA. Nancy was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen Martin and Penny Tinkey.

Friends and family may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday. Nancy’s brother, Evangelist Leonard “Buck” Groves of the Southern Hills Church of Christ, will conduct a funeral service at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
