Obituary for James T Sim

JAMES T. SIM, 87

EAST LIVERPOOL – James T. Sim, 87, died early Sunday morning, September 24, 2017 at his home on Clifton Avenue in East Liverpool.

A son of the late Frank N. and Alice Lister Sim, he was born on May 9, 1930 in East Liverpool. As a young boy, he had attended St. Aloysius School, and was a 1949 graduate of East Liverpool High School.

A U.S. Navy veteran, he had served in the Gilbert Islands from 1951-55.

For many years, he worked at Sayre Electric as an electrician, retiring from IBEW Local #246 out of Steubenville. He belonged to the Chester American Legion #121, as well as the Elks Lodge #258 in East Liverpool.

Raised in the Catholic Church, he most recently attended the First Church of Christ (Disciples).

His wife, Mary Ann Hohmann Sim, survives him at home. They were married June 17, 1962.

Also surviving is a daughter, Rose Turner, of Dallas Georgia, and two sons, Frank C. Sim of Woodstock, GA, and Charles F. “Charlie” Sim of East Liverpool. There are two grandchildren, Emma and Max Turner.

A sister, JoAnn Theiss and her husband Donald, of East Liverpool survives, as well as a nephew Don Thiess of Maryland, and a niece Annie Inge, her husband Chuck and their children, Allie and Ian of East Liverpool.
