Robert L. “Jim” Edgell, Jr., 88

EAST LIVERPOOL – Robert L. “Jim” Edgell, Jr. of Pennsylvania Avenue passed away at his residence on Monday, November 6, 2017. He was 88.

Born in East Liverpool, November 10, 1928, he was a son of the late Robert L. Edgell, Sr., and the late Hazel Pollock Edgell.

He was a veteran having served in the US Army Air Corps as well as the US Army. Jim had coached Bill Booth football and was a past member of the VFW and the American Legion.

He retired from the former Crucible Steel in 1981 after 22 years. Jim then worked at Carriage Hill in Salem as a tumbler operator retiring in 1993.

Jim was preceded by his wife Hannelore Margarete Petzold Edgell in 2011. They were married on February 10, 1960.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Eastham, and her husband Ernie, along with two sons, Jeffrey Edgell, and his companion Rhonda Schell, and David Edgell, and his wife Jennifer, all of East Liverpool.

There are three grandchildren, Taylor Eastham, Audrey Edgell and Luke Edgell.

Also surviving are his sisters, Jean Tomlison of East Liverpool, JoAnn Novakovich of Canton, Sandra Hague of Stow, Carolyn Pallard of East Liverpool and Linda Sullivan of Centerville, and a brother Kenneth Edgell of Mansfield.

In addition to his wife and parents, Jim was preceded by his sisters, Thelma Hildebrand, Phyllis Sopko and Virginia Plumley.

Friends may visit Thursday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 3 to 8 p.m. Rev. Norm Eckert of the Beechwood Free Methodist Church will conduct a funeral service Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will provide full military honors.
