Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Potts, Sr., 71

EAST LIVERPOOL - Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Potts, Sr., of East Liverpool, passed away Saturday morning at his home while surrounded by his loving family. He was 71.

Born in Chester, West Virginia, August 11, 1946, he was a son of the late Simon F. and Stella Mae Robinson Potts.

He worked for the City of East Liverpool as a truck driver for the Incinerator Department as well as spending many years as a farm hand at Hillcrest Farms. He was also a member of the Potters Club and the Fraternal Order of Orioles.

His wife, Faye Endicott Potts, preceded him in death on May 20, 2008. The couple married October 17, 1964. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Potts, Jr. on October 24, 2009.

There are three children: two daughters, Kay Deem and her husband, Steve, of East Liverpool, and Beth Watkins and her fiancé, Brandon, of East Liverpool, and a son, Brian Potts and his wife, Heather, of East Liverpool, along with a daughter-in-law, Kim Potts of Maryland. There are 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Jerry also is survived by three sisters: Joan Mike and her husband, Russell, of Chester, Beverly Edge and her husband, Don, of East Liverpool, and Cindy Roberts and her husband, Jim, of Wellsville, and four brothers: Butch Potts and his wife, Terry, of East Liverpool, Glenn Potts and his wife, Twila, of New Manchester, Russ Potts and his wife, Lori, of East Liverpool, and Buzz Potts and his wife, Renee, of Wellsville. He also leaves behind his companion Cheryle Dray of East Liverpool.

Friends may visit Monday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Pastor Christopher Wade of Destiny House will conduct a funeral service Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Calcutta Cemetery.
