Condolence From: Jill Shanks Eliot
Condolence: Today was my first day downstairs from being really sick and my daughter, Ann, greeted me with news of darling, sweet Aunt Evelyn's death. I thought she would live forever. Aunt Evelyn was the spunkiest, happiest woman I have ever known. I saw her almost every Sunday, during my childhood through adulthood. Many Sundays we became engrossed in Jimmy's trains. Jack (my brother) and Jimmy were fast friends and great cousins. Aunt Evelyn was one of the wittiest and funny ladies ever. She had humorous comments on everything. She was the stand-up comedian at my dad, Austin's, 75th birthday. That day will live in Shanks' history. Aunt Evelyn was descended from John Pringle, who was the first settler in West Vrginia. He and his brother Sam escaped from the British. The Pringle Tree is visible in Buckhanon, WVa. Love is Eternal.

Condolence: My mother is Jill Shanks Eliot - daughter of Austin Shanks and niece to Evelyn. Aunt Evelyn was absolutely one of my favorite great aunts! I didn't see her very much at all, but at my grandfather's 85th birthday party c. 2013, I remember telling her I was engaged and she said we should shack up! She was the spunkiest senior citizen I think I've ever known - probably comes from being the baby of the family. I loved her and wished I could have seen her more often. She will be missed by all of us.
