Obituary for Donald Glenn Bouscher

On Wednesday afternoon, January 10, 2018, Donald G. “Don” Bouscher was greeted by his Heavenly Father, while surrounded by his wife of 54 years and their large and loving family. He stoically fought cancer for several years and died at his home at the age of 74.

Born in East Liverpool on August 27, 1943, he was a son of the late William Glenn and Dorothy Buckley Bouscher. He had spent virtually his entire lifetime in this area and had attended East Liverpool High School but graduated in 1961 from David Anderson High School when his family moved his senior year. His ties to his hometown remained strong, and he was a loyal and trusted friend to all. Kind and genuine by nature, he was a solid and virtuous man who quietly and humbly led by example; his devotion to his family was an inspiration to all and will forever be his legacy.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving as a radioman in the Mediterranean. For many years, he worked in construction management for Michael Baker International, and his work ethic was respected and admired by everyone who had the honor of being associated with him.

He and his wife, the former Carol Czech, were married on January 11, 1964 and together, they thoroughly cherished each and every family memory made with their own five children, and later their seventeen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

In addition to Carol, Don leaves behind two daughters, Michelle Fitch and her husband, Tom, of East Liverpool, and Paula Adkins and her husband, Patrick, of Port Clinton, Ohio, along with three sons, Donald “Glenn” Bouscher and his wife, Heather, of East Liverpool; Eric Bouscher and his wife, Megan, of Westerville, Ohio; and Justin Bouscher and his wife, Peggy, also of East Liverpool.

In addition to his children and grandchildren, he leaves behind his sisters, Janis Bullock and her husband, David; Darlynn McCartney; and Debbie Johnston and her husband, Robert; and brothers William Bouscher and his companion, Linda; and Keith Bouscher and his wife, Gilda. Don was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Bouscher.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Dawson Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018.

Rev. Susan Pickering of Green Valley United Methodist Church will officiate at a funeral service to be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Don will be laid to rest at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens, where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will provide full military honors.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a continued time of fellowship.

Those wishing to do so may make gifts in Don’s name to East Liverpool Christian School, 46682 Florence Street, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920; Team Mojo Foundation, P.O. Box 44, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920; or a charity of choice, especially one which would benefit local children.
