Obituary for Stella Marie Viscoglosi (Galeoti)

Stella Marie Viscoglosi, 88

EAST LIVERPOOL - Stella Marie Viscoglosi, 88, passed away Friday afternoon, Februray 2nd, 2018 at her home at Essex III in Salem, surrounded by her family and staff who loved her dearly.

Born in East Liverpool on October 11, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Micelotta) Galeoti. She was a 1947 graduate of East Liverpool High School. Stella worked at Olsen Department Store and the A & P for many years as a cashier. She married the love of her life, John A. Viscoglosi on June 8, 1957, and they raised their family and lived in Myler Park for 50 years. She treasured the time she spent with her husband, children and grandchildren.

Stella was a long time member of Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, as well as a member of Triangles senior group where she enjoyed going to dinner shows, bus trips and activities with a wonderful group of friends.

She was preceded in death on November 16, 1996 by her husband, John A. Viscoglosi.

Stella always put everyone else first, and her family meant everything to her. She is survived by four loving children: John Viscoglosi of East Liverpool, Diane McGee and her husband John of Powell, OH, Amy Mays and her husband Dirk of Wellsville, and Lisa Blasdel of East Liverpool.

In addition, there are nine grandchildren who were Stella’s pride and joy: Emily Mays, Kaitlin McGee, Kyle McGee, Colin McGee, Taylor McGee, Johnny Viscoglosi , Nichole Viscoglosi, Justin Blasdel and Zita Blasdel, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Also surviving is her sister Shirley Bridge of Salem, Ohio. Stella was so fortunate to have such a loving sister who spent so much quality time with her and always brought a smile to her face.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Anna Marie Galeoti, Nancy Bodinar, Glenda Gibas, Ralph Galeoti and Nick Galeoti .

We would like to thank the management and staff of Essex III in Salem for treating our mother like family, and making it the place she called home. Stella will always be remembered for her contagious smile and her candy tray, by the wonderful staff and many friends she made along the way.

Friends may visit Thursday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. Fr. Peter Haladej will conduct a funeral service Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Stella will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband John at Columbiana Cemetery in East Liverpool.
