Obituary for Michael J. "Mike" Walker

MICHAEL J. “MIKE” WALKER, 56

EAST LIVERPOOL – Early Sunday morning, February 11, 2018, Michael J. “Mike” Walker finished his earthly struggles and passed away peacefully at his home in the presence of his family and devoted friends who have been there with him and for him during his lengthy illness.

He was a beloved son of Patricia Hamilton Walker of East Liverpool, and the late James R. Walker, and was born October 20, 1961 in East Liverpool.

A 1980 graduate of East Liverpool High School, Mike spent his entire life in this area. He was retired from the Ohio State Highway Patrol as a motor carrier enforcement inspector. Mike had been a part time patrolman for Liverpool Township Police Department. A loyal member of the National Rifle Association, he was also a passionate motorcycle enthusiast and loved the freedom he felt while riding his Harley with his wife, Tina, and their friends.

Mike was raised at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, but later attended St. Aloysius Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by wife, Tina Marks Walker, whom he married in August of 1984. They were the proud parents of three children, who also survive: Morgan Gaskill and her husband, Tyler, of East Liverpool; Kylie Walker and her fiancé, Jon Zigler, of Pittsburgh; and John Walker and his wife, Erica, also of East Liverpool. Mike and Tina lived for their grandchildren, Walker Gaskill, Sayler Gaskill, and Harper Walker, and they were eagerly anticipating Kylie and Jon’s upcoming wedding.

Mike came from a large and loving family, including his sister, Lea Adkins and her husband Troy; and brothers, Troy A. Walker and his wife, Londa, and James “J.R” Walker and his wife, Tammy, all of East Liverpool, along with many nieces and nephews and countless friends.

Friends may visit with the family at the Dawson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Father Peter Haladej of Holy Trinity Parish will be the celebrant at a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Aloysius Church, where brief visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Mike will be laid to rest at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Contributions may be made to a local charity of your choice or the American Diabetes Association: www.diabetes.org.
