Obituary for Martha Jane Swaney

Martha Jane Swaney, of Staunton Avenue in Glenmoor, passed away Tuesday evening, February 20, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in East Liverpool on February 12, 1948, she had just observed her 70th birthday last week.

A daughter of the late Lawrence and Gloria Hanna McKinnon, Martha had spent her entire life in this area and was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1966.

In 1997, she married Thomas E. “Tom” Swaney and was a devoted homemaker and wife, putting her family first above all else. Prior to her illness, she loved fishing and going camping with Tom, and spending time with her kids and grandkids, as well as her beloved fur-baby, Scooter.

In addition to her husband, her children survive: daughter Janey Lynn White and her husband, “Boddie”, of East Liverpool, and three sons, Brian Edgell and his wife, Marian; Bill Edgell, and Brad Edgell, all of East Liverpool. There are eleven grandchildren.

Martha also leaves behind four brothers, Robert Woodyard and his wife, Shelly; Douglas Woodyard and his wife, Marcie; Brad Woodyard and his wife, Wanda; and Ronnie Woodyard and his wife, Cindy, along with six sisters, Darlene Ryan and her husband, Rich; Grace K. Laffaree and her husband, Harry; Leandra McKinnon; Diane Klenotic and her husband, Mark; Edith Beebout and her husband, Bob; and Debbie Johnston and her husband, Neil.

She will also be missed by her sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Matt Potocar, and brother-in-law, Lou Swaney, and their families.

Pastor Paul Duncan of Bible Holiness Chapel in Ohioville will conduct a funeral service Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home.

Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at Campground Community Church, 1795 Annesley Road, East Liverpool, for a continued time of fellowship.
