Obituary for Dorothy "Dot" Bloor Young

Dorothy “Dot” Bloor Young, 87

EAST LIVERPOOL –Dorothy “Dot” Bloor Young, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 while surrounded by her family at the East Liverpool City Hospital. She was 87.

A daughter of the late Warren and Ruth Wilkins Bloor, Dot was born August 31, 1930 in East Liverpool. She was a 1948 graduate of East Liverpool High School and had lived here her entire life.

Dot worked for a few years before marrying Joseph Gorman Young in 1951. She had a few jobs through the years, but her main focus was taking care of her family and providing a loving home, where dinner was on the table at 5:00 p.m. everyday and everyone was always welcome. Dot continued to take care of her family by watching her grandchildren while her own children worked.

The church was a fundamental part of Dot’s life. She, like many of her family members before her, belonged to the First United Methodist Church. At one time or another, Dot was a part of virtually every women’s circle, class, quilting club and committee along with teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. Dot rarely missed the chance to volunteer in the kitchen where she was famous for her gravy. She will long be remembered for her loving heart, her bright smile, and her kindness to all.

She leaves behind her three daughters: Connie Krafft and her husband, Kenneth, of East Liverpool; Judy McComas and her husband, Emmitt, also of East Liverpool; Diane Null and her husband, John, of Victor, New York; and a son, J. Robert “Bob” Young and his wife, Vicki, also of East Liverpool.

There are 13 cherished grandchildren, one great-grandchild and 7 step great-grandchildren. Dot is also survived by a sister, Mary Lou Heidel and her husband, Chuck, of Charlotte, North Carolina, along with a large and close extended family and numerous nieces and nephews whom she treated like her very own children.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Flora “Flo” Young, Mildred Skidmore, and Marjorie Brick, as well as a brother, W. Robert Bloor.

Friends may visit Sunday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from noon to 2 and 5 to 7 p.m. Pastor Larry Hukill will conduct a funeral service Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the church’s Fellowship Hall for a luncheon and continued remembrance.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery’
