Shayne R. McCowin, 41

EAST LIVERPOOL – Shayne R. McCowin, of East Palestine, passed away Friday morning March 2, 2018. He was 41.

Born in Salem, Ohio, April 13, 1976, he was a son of Pamela and Brett Michalak of East Palestine and Paul R. McCowin, Jr. of Rogers. A resident of this area all his life, he was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Karen L. McCowin of Salem and Alexia N. Michalak and her fiancé, Patrick Durkin, of Cornersburg, Ohio, as well as a niece, Eden Durkin and a nephew, Walton Sayer, IV.

He also leaves his maternal grandmother, Twila Flara, a paternal grandmother Rita Michalak, a special uncle, Shawn Flara, and many loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Edwin M. Birch, a paternal grandfather, a paternal grandfather, Paul R. McCowin, Sr., Chester W. Michalak, a paternal grandmother Mabel Sprankle McCowin, and a step maternal grandfather, John Nick Flara.

Pastor Tom Adkins will conduct a funeral service Monday at 4:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home where friends may visit two hours prior to the service.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Campground Community Church for fellowship.
