Obituary for Dean Stowers

Dean Stowers, 85

EAST LIVERPOOL – Doffis Dean Stowers, of East Liverpool, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Calcutta Health Care Center following a lengthy illness. He was 85.

Born in Alum Creek, West Virginia, December 3, 1932, he was a son of the late Jack and Lona Hale Stowers. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post 374. Dean worked at the former Crucible Steel Company in the blast furnace until retiring in 1982. A resident of this area for many years, he was also proud to claim Branchland, West Virginia where he resided for many years on the family farm.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Stowers, as well as two brothers, Billy Ray Stowers and Rome Stowers, and four sisters, Juanita, Imogene, Carol and Elouise.

He is survived by two daughters, Sabrina Hodge (Richard) and Stacy Napier (Charles), all of West Hamlin, West Virginia, and two sons, Michael Stowers and Randy Stowers, both of East Liverpool.

There are also six grandchildren and many great-grandchildren surviving.

Friends may visit Monday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.

A visitation and service will also be held at the Koontz Funeral Home in Hamlin.

Burial will be at the Jack Stowers Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank all the caregivers and staff at the Calcutta Health Care Center for their care for Dean over the past six and a half years.
