Pearl I. Rossy, 89

TAMPA, FL – Pearl I. Rossy, of Tampa, formerly of Chester, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace, Florida in the presence of her loving family. She was 89.

Born in Weirton, March 23, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Oliver Clark Wagner and Sylvia Mae Smith Wagner. A resident of Chester nearly all her life, she worked as a custodian for Hancock County Schools. She was a member of Longs Run Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Rossy was well known for her cooking and baking prowess especially her “famous” cinnamon rolls, potato salad, cutout cookies, pineapple pizza, Italian dishes of great variety, and leg of lamb. She was a skilled player at card games like Canasta and Spades; you definitely wanted her to be your partner and not your opponent. She was an expert shopper and loved finding gifts to give family and friends at Christmas, which she always wrapped just so. She loved visiting the beach and Siesta Key in Sarasota, Florida was her favorite place, where she loved to hang out at the Lifeguard shack.

A fan of many sports, especially basketball, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates and West Virginia Mountaineers were among her favorite teams. Reggie Miller of the Indiana Pacers was one of her personal favorite players among all sports.

Her husband, Richard A. “Dick” Rossy, preceded her in death February 20, 2013. The couple married August 4, 1946. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Leona Kelly and brothers Roseman (Bus) Wagner, Allie Wagner, Edgar Wagner, and Ralph (Muggsy) Wagner.

Survivors include two daughters: Sally Riley and her husband, Michael, of Livermore, California, and Sherry Linn Muncy of Clermont, Florida; and two sons: Richard Jeffrey Rossy and his wife, Lana, of Citrus Springs, Florida, and Joseph Edward Rossy and his wife, Linda, of Tampa. There are seven grandchildren: Roxane Williams, Charity Riley, Chris Riley, Tristan Muncy, Troy Muncy, Trent Muncy, and Ashley Juno; and ten great-grandchildren.

She also leaves a sister Joyce D’Agostino of Henderson, Nevada and a son-in-law Sam Muncy.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Dawson Funeral Home where friends may visit from 11:30 until the time of the service.

Burial will be next to her husband at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
