Obituary for Mary E. Ice

Mary E. Ice, 71

EAST LIVERPOOL – Mary E. Ice, of East Liverpool, passed away Friday, March 30, 2018, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was 71.

Born in Richwood Run, Jacksonburg, West Virginia, December 26, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Leslie and Kathleen V. “Katie” Wilson Ice. She was a member of the St. Clair Avenue Church of Christ. In 1965 she graduated from East Liverpool High School and was a member of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association.

She worked at Ohio Brass which later became Newell Porcelain for 35 years. While at Newell Porcelain she was secretary/treasurer of UE Local 6112 and also secretary for District 6 of the UE which included locals in WV, OH, PA and NY.

Mary was a familiar face on Election Day where she worked at the Dixonville Fire Department and had also been working at the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association’s Clock Tower office. She was a member of the Northeastern Ohio Forestry Association (NEOFA) where she was the newsletter editor of its monthly newspaper. She also had an article published in one of the Ohio State Forestry magazines.

In the early 1990s, Mary brought taxi service back to East Liverpool when she opened the People Helping People cab company.

She is survived by her son Robert E. “Bob” Ice of East Liverpool and two grandsons: Robert L. “Rob” Ice and his wife, Jasmine, both in the military and stationed in Alaska, and Anthony J. “Ant” Ice of East Liverpool, and one granddaughter, Trista M. Koffel of Rogers.

She also leaves two brothers: Jerry L. Ice and his wife, Debbie, Stanley E. Ice and his wife, Becky, and a sister-in-law Mary Lou Ice, all of East Liverpool. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. She will also be sadly missed by her two cats: Molly and Lilly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Ricky K. Ice.

Friends may visit Monday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Evangelist Will Montgomery will conduct a funeral service Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
