Obituary for Joyce A. Adkins

Joyce Sellards Adkins, 75

EAST LIVERPOOL – Joyce Sellards Adkins, of East Liverpool, passed away suddenly Wednesday, April 4, 2018 while visiting her daughter in Reynoldsburg. She was 75.

Born in Logan, West Virginia, May 18, 1942, she was a daughter of the late John Lloyd “Red” and Madeline Wellman Sellards. A resident of this area for many years, she was a member of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church where she was an elder. For nearly 20 years, she worked at Adrian’s Restaurant and then worked as a hostess at the Dawson Family Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin D. “Deadle” Adkins, on September 21, 2012. The couple married February 5, 1963 and she was a proud military wife.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Donna Anderson and her husband, Mark, of Reynoldsburg, and Holly Bosco and her husband, Brent, of East Liverpool, and a son, Steve Adkins and his wife, Kimberly, of East Liverpool. There are seven grandchildren: Alison Anderson, Amanda Anderson, Gage White, Aubrey Bosco, Brandon Adkins, Stephanie Adkins and Brett Clark. There are four great-grandchildren, Braedyn Brereton, Kamryn Bailey, Kaedyn Bailey and Aiden Adkins.

Joyce was a loving sister to her two sisters: Lynda Sparks and her husband, Larry, and Rita Hayner, all of East Liverpool. Joyce will also be remembered by her large extended family.

Friends may visit Friday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. Rev. Tanta Luckhardt-Hendricks and Student Pastor Nancy DeStefano will conduct a funeral service Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church where friends may also visit one hour prior to the service.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the church hall for fellowship and continued remembrance.

Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in care of the Emmanuel Food Pantry, 767 Park Blvd., East Liverpool, Ohio 43920.
