Obituary for Jay Oscar Lyle

Jay Oscar Lyle, 67

CONWAY, PA – Jay Oscar Lyle, of East Liverpool, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018. He was 67.

Born in East Liverpool, January 21, 1951, he was a son of the late James Lyle and Betty Jane Howell Hyde. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served two tours in Vietnam with the 11th Armored Cavalry “Blackhorse” Regiment. He was a member of the Laborers Local Union 833 in New Brighton, Pennsylvania. He also worked as a roofer with his son, Jay.

A member of the Potters Club, he also held membership at the former Army Navy Club.

He is survived by two daughters, Crissie Baynum of Conway, and Casey Lyle-Callahan and her husband, Patrick Callahan, of Rochester, Pennsylvania, and a son, Jay Oscar Lyle II of Harmony, Pennsylvania. There are four grandchildren: Brenton, Iesha, Tucker “Jay” and Jacinda.

Also surviving are three sisters: Sally Paugh and her husband, Keith, of Wellsville; Jane Noble and her husband, Denny, of Geneva; and Sandy Barborak and her husband, Larry, of East Liverpool. Four brothers also survive: Ross Lyle and his wife, Leah, of East Liverpool; Jerry Lyle and his wife, Donna, of East Liverpool; Arch Hyde and his wife, Jackie, of East Liverpool; and Chuck Hyde of Ohio.

In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by a brother, John Lyle.

Rev. Norman Eckert will conduct a funeral service Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will conduct full military honors. Friends may visit two hours prior to the service.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center.
